CLIENT – ASTRA
ADDRESS – Bow Brick Hill, Buckinghamshire
SECTOR – Community
PROJECT VALUE – £350k
Bow Brick Hill Community Hall replaced was designed to replace a much loved community building which was no longer fit for purposes. CMI one the tender to design and deliver a new building which would accommodate the local pay group and add an additional meeting room for the village.
CMI undertook public consultation with the public and local stakeholders to achieve momentum to aid the fundraising required for the project to go ahead. The CMI team attended fundraising events and village meetings to assist the project managers to achieve buy in from the local community.
The building was designed to be constructed in SIP’s panels to give the open ceilings that were required to create the space the village wanted. We worked closely with the client, value engineering the project looking at different construction methods and materials to ensure the essence of the design was maintained without compromising the budget and the future maintenance of the building. Speed was also of the essence to prevent the nursery from being closed to long and the SIPS system allowed this to be feasible. The clients’ aspirations were to make the building as sustainable as possible with the budget at hand while leaving space for future improvements such as solar panels when the budget allowed.
CMI achieved planning for the building and are due to start the construction phase in the near future when funding has been secured.
