Bow Brickhill Community Hall

SECTOR – Community

LOCATION- Bow Brickhill, Buckinghamshire

CMI won the tender to design and deliver a new Community Hall, to replace a much loved building that would accommodate the local play group and a function space for the village.

CMI took the project through planning and to delivery. This included a public consultation stage to achieve momentum and aid the fundraising required for the project.

The building was designed to be constructed from SIPs to provide the open ceilings required to create the space the village wanted. We worked closely with the client, value engineering the project looking at different construction methods and materials to ensure the design was maintained without compromising the budget. Speed was also of the essence to prevent the nursery from being closed to long and the SIPS system allowed this to be feasible.

The clients’ aspirations were to make the building as sustainable as possible with the budget at hand while leaving space for future improvements such as solar panels. The high levels of insulation and timber cladding increased thermal performance and enganced the design to fit within the rural context.
